There is such a great team around to support you, a great place to be in. The participants gained new music, an insight into the Highland traditions, new friends, technical advice and help, good socialising, meeting people “in the same boat”…

Fun Folk App

Fun Folk LogoEoghainn wavingDownload our new ‘Fun Folk’ app for free on ipads and tablet devices!

Through a series of fun activities, Fun Folk allows young children to explore Gaelic and Scots songs, stories and ceilidh dances, as well as learning about traditional Scottish musical instruments.

The app was launched at a Creativity Day hosted by Fèis Rois at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh on 1st June. Here is a film about the Fun Folk App and Creativity Day

The App HomepageFunded by Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative, the Fèis Rois Fun Folk project involved a team of research artists, led by singer Michelle Burke, who worked with over 400 children in nursery schools in Edinburgh, Glasgow, North Lanarkshire and Highland. They collated a number of songs, games, activities, stories and dances that feature on the app.

We contracted Flo-Culture to build the app and to find out more about this journey please visit the Flo-Culture website. Award winning animator, Gavin C Robinson brought the ideas to life through design and animation with the music and stories being recorded by Barry Reid and a team of professional musicians from bands including Treacherous Orchestra and The Shee.
