Fèis Rois nan DeugaireanThe next Senior Fèis takes place in Ullapool from Monday 7th - Friday 11th October 2013.
Beginners are very welcome at all of our events, and those who already play an instrument or sing will also find the experience very rewarding. We aim to cater for all abilities, right up to accomplished musicians and singers. You don’t need to be able to read music and you don’t need to have any previous knowledge of traditional music to enjoy a Fèis. Workshops are taught by ear with participants learning tunes and songs a phrase at a time. Tutors will give you the sheet music to take home.
Fèis Rois events are fun and friendly. We want to help you improve your playing, grow in confidence and learn more about the Gaelic language and culture.
All of our tutors are experienced, professional musicians, skilled in working with young people. We also have a pool of supervisors and volunteers who help our events run smoothly. Children are supervised at all times and we work in accordance with Child Protection and Health & Safety Guidelines. Our contracted staff and volunteers have all completed Disclosure Scotland applications. If you would like to see copies of our policies or know more about volunteering please contact us.
The Fèis Rois Autumn Residential is one of the major highlights of the S1-S6 calendar. Participants from all over Ross and Cromarty and beyond sign up to this week long opportunity to learn, play and have fun with Scottish traditional music.
Â
The music tuition is based in Ullapool High school and the residential accommodation is based at various hotels and B+B’s in Ullapool.
Our experienced tutors and supervisors work closely together to ensure the young people have a valuable learning and sociable experience.
